 Jon Altman is a research professor in economics/anthropology at the Australian National University in Canberra; from 1990-2010 he was the foundation director of that University's Centre for Aboriginal Economic Policy Research. He has undertaken research in remote Australia since the late 1970s and in 2012 was elected an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand.
