Hinemoana Markham-Nicklin - 2021 student editor of the Māori Law Review
Hinemoana is of Ngāti Kahungunu ki te Wairoa and Ngāti Pāhauwera descent. She grew up in Nelson. In 2021 she is a 5th year LLB (Hons) and BCom student majoring in marketing and public policy. Hinemoana is a fierce advocate for the rights of Māori with a keen interest in indigenous law and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Hinemoana is an executive member and treasurer of Ngā Rangahautira (Victoria University Māori Law Students’ Society), and has played an integral part in the kaupapa Ngā Rangahautira represents.
Alongside being the 2021 student editor of the Māori Law Review, Hinemoana is a research assistant for the Inspiring New Indigenous Legal Education for Aotearoa New Zealand’s LLB Degree project. After University Hinemoana aims to gain experience in a commercial law firm and use that knowledge to advocate for and give back to her community.
